The purpose of this website is to provide the University of Florida's IFAS Assessment of the Status of Non-Native Plants in Florida's Natural Areas. This perpetual effort "assesses" non-native plants as they are discovered in Florida. It is a work-in-progress.
Contact us about the IFAS Assessment.
The working group and the Assessment were created in response to the growing awareness of the threat posed (especially to threatened and endangered native species) by non-native invasive species. To learn more about the story of the IFAS Assessment, click here.
The assessment protocol was developed in 1999 (revised in 2001 and 2004) by the IFAS Invasive Plants Working Group.
