Florida Native Plants:

Research Activity


Objective:  Students will investigate Florida native plants and their role in an ecosystem. 

Directions:  Each student will choose and research one Florida native plant from the list of plants provided on the regional plant web page (see below).  The student will create a poster about the plant for a presentation to the class and/or teacher. 

Materials:

 

Activity: 
Students will research the following topics and include this information on their poster.  The poster must include a color drawing of the plant with major parts identified. 

  1. A description, photograph or drawing of the native habitat of the plant.
  2. Description of another living thing that is dependent on this plant.
  3. A map of the geographic locations of the plant in Florida

During presentations, students should cover all the above items.
