Actually more akin to weed-eating than harvesting, this
"triturator" was built in Mexico to chop water hyacinths into pieces too small to regrow, as part
of the overall program to reduce water hyacinth populations in Lake Chapalla, Mexico. Each
triturator has a set of whirling metal disk with attached teeth. Research has shown that many
pieces of chopped water hyacinth are, unfortunately, still capable of regrowth.
