    The very attractive native, swamp loosestrife, is an emersed, long-legged shrub commonly found growing in swamps of th northern counties south to the central peninsula of Florida (Wunderlin, 2003).

    It is a native found in the eastern third of the U.S. and Canada, plus Texas, and is also rarely found in the mid-western states (Kartesz, 1999). There is only one species of Decodon in Florida (Wunderlin, 2003).
