One of about 15 species of rosemallows in Florida, this native species is found in the northern part of the state, and down to Lake County (Wunderlin, 2003). It is also found in the others states of the most southerly southeast U.S.

There are about 35 species of rosemallows in the U.S. (Kartesz, 1999). Their flower colors range from white to pink to yellow to red.
