Illicium floridanum is a flowering, perennial, wetland plant that is occasionally found in seepage slopes and creek swamps in the central and western panhandle of Florida (Wunderlin, 2003).

It is located in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and rarely in Florida and Georgia (Kartesz, 1999).
