    Acer rubrum is a flowering, perennial, wetland tree.

    The red maple has a vast distribution. It is present in the eastern half of North America, extending as far north as Quebec, as far west as Texas and as far south as Florida (Kartesz, 1999). It is frequently found throughout the state of Florida (Wunderlin, 1998).
