This hair-like filamentous alga can form large benthic (on the bottom) and surface mats. In some areas, such as the Rainbow River, it is quickly covering and smothering native submersed plants. For brief control information, see Weed Control in Florida Ponds by D.D. Thayer, K. A. Langeland, W.T. Haller, and J.C. Joyce. |
