    There are seven native species of passion flower found in Florida, and three non-native (Wunderlin 2003). There are perhaps forty species of passion flower in the U.S., all found in the bottom half of the country.

    Passiflora biflora, two-flowered passion vine, is a Category II species on the FLEPPC 2011 List of Invasive Plant Species.

    Purple passion flower is a native vine in Florida. It is frequently found in dry, open hammocks and disturbed sites throughout the state. Passiflora incarnata is found from Texas to Illinois to Pennsylvania, and states south (Kartesz 1999). It blooms from spring to summer.
