Rouge plant is a small shrub frequently found in Florida's peninsular hammocks (Wunderlin, 2003). It blooms all year. (The pictured specimen was blooming on Christmas day in Alachua County.) Rouge plant is also found in LA, TX, AR, OK, NM and AZ (Kartesz, 1999).
