Salix caroliniana is found in the margins of rivers, ponds, lakes, ditches, marshes, and in open, wet forests. It is common nearly throughout Florida (Wunderlin, 2003). Carolina willow is located in 23 states including Florida (Kartesz, 1999). It occurs almost always (estimated probability 99%) under natural conditions in wetlands.
