White twinevine is a frequent native of the hammocks of central and southern Florida (Wunderlin, 2003). It flowers all year. Sarcostemma clausum usually occurs in wetlands (estimated probability 67%-99%), but occasionally found in non-wetlands.

It is also native to Texas and the Virgin Islands (Kartesz, 1999).
