Understanding Invasive Aquatic Weeds

Published by the Aquatic Plant Management Society in cooperation with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission / Invasive Plant Management Section and the University of Florida / IFAS, Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants (January 2010).

It's here! An interactive online activity booklet containing helpful information and fun activities for audiences of all ages.

This 15-page booklet features five of the worst aquatic weeds found in North America, accompanied by interactive links to key concepts and terminology, video clips, and games that help illustrate the serious problems associated with these plant species.

This interactive booklet is an adaptation of earlier print editions.

In our effort to conserve paper, trees, and considerable expense, we do not plan to print additional copies of the booklet.

However, a limited number of hard copies are still available, while they last, free of charge to teachers.

To order a classroom set of 30, or a box of 4 sets (total=120), contact Jeff Schardt (jeff.schardt@myfwc.com).

You may also download a PDF file (2.5MB). Feel free to print and use the entire booklet or portions of it for educational purposes (NOTE: Some activities are slightly different than the online version).

If you have questions or comments regarding this booklet -- including any ideas on how we might make it better, please contact Jeff Schardt (jeff.schardt@myfwc.com).

If you have only good things to say, contact Amy Richard, with the University of Florida / Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants (arich@ufl.edu).
