Paspalum species
Paspalum

There are many Paspalum species worldwide, about 16 in Florida wetlands. They are medium to large sized. Bahia grass (Paspalum notatum) is an introduced forage which is commonly used for lawns and pastures, but also occurs in wetlands. Paspalum species are eaten by ducks, swans and other water birds.


Paspalum species are grasses. stems flattened at base; leaf blades flat to folded; inflorescence of 1 to many spike-like branches, branches alternate or sometimes paired and forked at end of stem; spikelets in 2 to 4 rows along lower side of inflorescence branches
