Phyllostachys aurea a flowering, perennial grass-like plant (Kartesz, 1999).

Golden bamboo is found in disturbed thickets and is rare in Florida, located only in Seminole county(Wunderlin, 1998).
It is a native to China that has escaped from cultivation .
