Native to Florida

Florida bitterbush is a rare small tree, in Florida found only in Dade County, but also occurring in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands (Kartesz, 1999). Bitterbush might be mistaken for the native marlberry (Ardisia escallonioides) or the non-native shoebutton (Ardisia elliptica).
