Elodea canadensis is a submersed, aquatic, perennial plant.
Elodea is present in virtually every region of North America (Kartesz, 1999). It is rare in Florida, occurring in some streams in Jackson County. It blooms in the spring (Wunderlin, 2003).
Elodea canadensis may be confused with Hydrilla verticillata or Egeria densa.
