Pteris tripartita
giant brake fern
Not Native to Florida
Giant brake fern is not native to Florida. This exotic escaped from cultivation and is now being found in the swamps of the central and southern peninsula (Wunderlin, 1998). It is one of four Pteris species that have escaped into the natural areas of the state.
Giant brake fern is also an exotic plant in Puerto Rico (Kartesz, 1999).
