Elderberry is a well-known small tree. This native prefers wetland sites including hammocks, forests, swamps and disturbed places. It is common nearly throughout Florida (Wunderlin, 1998). This species is found throughout the U.S., except the northwest corner, and in eastern Canada (Kartesz, 1999). It flowers from spring through fall.
