Saw palmetto is commonly found in wet to dry flatwoods and hammocks throughout the state of Florida (Wunderlin, 1998).
It has a variety of pharmacological and culenary uses, as the fruits, leaves and seeds are all edible. Saw palmetto is located in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and possibly Texas (Kartesz, 1999).
