Here, water flows through the ruins of Florida's genteel past: a past that wasn't that long ago... Here, multiple sulfur springs flow quickly into the Suwannee River. A hundred years ago, directly above them stood a cavernous posh resort where tourists from everywhere came to take the "medicinal" waters. (It even had its own miniature railroad that spanned the Suwannee River!) As people discovered that sulfur water really does not cure anything the novelty of it all wore off. In 1925 the last tourist left as the last hotel burned to the ground.
