Toxicodendron radicans
eastern poison ivy
Native to Florida
Some might wish poisonous poison ivy were not native to Florida, but it is. Poison
ivy can run along the ground, or grow high into the trees. It can be herbaceous,
or it can become woody and branching, as in the left-most picture above. It always has the
distinctive arrangement of three leaves.
Poison ivy is common in floodplain forests, swamps and disturbed sites. It flowers
in the spring and summer.
